Abstract

  • The value of Jakarta’s exports in August 2024 reached US$1,271.16 million, which increased 9.11 percent compared to exports in July 2024 and rose by 29.81 percent compared to August 2023.
  • Oil and gas exports reached US$2.97 million, decreased by 11.07 percent compared to July 2024, and rose by 18.47 percent compared to exports in August 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in August 2024 reached US$1,268.19 million, which increased 9.17 percent compared to July 2024 and 29.84 percent compared to August 2023.
  • The main commodities group with the largest increase compared to July 2024 was footwear to US$130.48 million (96.57 percent). The increase in exports occurred in six main export commodities.
  • By industry classification, non-oil and gas exports from the manufacturing industry and agriculture rose by 29.76 percent and 33.01 percent compared to the same month in 2023, respectively. Meanwhile, mining and other exports decreased by 79.07 percent.
  • The largest exports in August 2024 were to The United States, in the amount of US$195.57 million, followed by the China at US$173.84 million and Singapore at US$105.80 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 37.39 percent.
  • The cumulative exports in January-August  2024 amounted to US$8,106.16 million which increased by 12.90 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
     
  • Imports of Jakarta in August 2024 were worth US$ 7,468.17 million, which rose by 2.99 percent compared with July 2024, or rose by 9.95 percent compared with August 2023.
  • Imports of oil and gas in August 2024 were worth US$ 266.81 million, which rose by 1.34 percent compared to July 2024 and rose by 33.94 percent compared to August 2023.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in August 2024 were worth US$ 7,201.36 million, which rose by 3.05 percent compared to July 2024 and rose by 9.23 percent compared to August 2023.
  • The most significant import increase in August 2024 was electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof, which rose by US$ 159.80 million (21.50 percent). On the contrary, iron and steel experienced the highest decrease by US$ 41.56 million (minus 10.15 percent).
  • Based on the classification of Broad Economic Categories (BEC), compared with July 2024, imports of capital goods in August 2024 increased by US$ 275.05 million (16.44 percent), followed by consumption goods by US$ 6.57 million (0.71 percent). Meanwhile, imports of Intermediate goods decreased by US$ 64.74 million (minus 1.39 percent) compared to July 2024.
  • The largest trading partner countries imports in August 2024 were China with US$ 2,888.23 million (38.67 percent), Japan with US$ 820.73 million (10.99 percent), and Thailand with US$ 531.05 million (7.11 percent).
