Exports and Imports of DKI Jakarta Province, September 2024

Abstract

  • The value of Jakarta’s exports in September 2024 reached US$1,243.89 million, which decreased 2.15 percent compared to exports in August 2024 and rose by 29.15 percent compared to September 2023.
  • Oil and gas exports reached US$ 3.02 million, increased by 1.68 percent compared to August 2024, and rose by 34.19 percent compared to exports in September 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in September 2024 reached US$1,240.87 million, which decreased 2.15 percent compared to August 2024 and increased 29.14 percent compared to September 2023.
  • The largest increase in the export value of leading commodities in September 2024 compared to August 2024 was precious metals and jewellery/precious at US$ 39.78 million (38.91 percent). Meanwhile, the largest decrease in the export value of leading commodities was vehicles and their parts at US$ 30.14 million (minus 12.46 percent).
  • By industry classification, non-oil and gas exports from the mining and other exports showed a positive growth by 51.63 percent, followed by agriculture exports which rose by 4.01 percent compared to August 2024. Meanwhile, manufacturing industry exports decreased by 2.35 percent compared to the preceding month. 
  • The largest exports in September 2024 were to The United States, in the amount of US$189.89 million, followed by the China at US$115.14 million and Singapore at US$108.96 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 33.29 percent.
  • The cumulative exports in January-September  2024 amounted to US$9,350.05 million, rising by 14.82 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

 

  • Imports of Jakarta in September 2024 were worth US$ 6,693.12 million, which contracted by 10.38 percent compared with August 2024, or rose by 17.42 percent compared with September 2023.
  • Imports of oil and gas in September 2024 were worth US$ 245.44 million, which contracted by 8.01 percent compared to August 2024 and rose by 89.58 percent compared to September 2023.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in September 2024 were worth US$ 6,447.68 million, which decline by 10.47 percent compared to August 2024 and rose by 15.75 percent compared to September 2023.
  • The most significant import increase in September 2024 was iron and steel, which rose by US$ 31.82 million (8.65 percent). On the contrary, the import of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof experienced the highest decrease by US$ 168.94 million (minus 18.71 percent). 
  • Based on the classification of Broad Economic Categories (BEC), compared with August 2024, imports of intermediate goods in September 2024 decreased by US$ 444.61 million (minus 9.68 percent), followed by capital goods in September 2024 by US$ 324.69 million (minus 16.66 percent), and consumption goods by US$ 5.75 million (minus 0.62 percent).
  • The largest trading partner countries imports in September 2024 were China with US$ 2,660.94 million (39.76 percent), Japan with US$ 626.54 million (9.36 percent), and Thailand with US$ 537.71 million (8.03 percent).
