Paddy Harvested Area and Production in DKI Jakarta, 2021

The agricultural sector is one of the vital sectors in human life. The agricultural sector has a very significant contribution to the achievement of the goals of the second Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) program, namely no hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and encouraging sustainable agricultural cultivation. The role of the agricultural sector in Indonesia is also very important because it is the second largest contributor to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which acts as a driver of national economic growth. Based on data of BPS-Statistics, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors will contribute 13.28 percent to the Indonesian economy in 2021. During the Covid-19 pandemic, which had a fairly large impact on the national economy, the agricultural sector actually showed a fairly good performance. This is evidenced by the development of the agricultural sector which grew positively by 1.77 percent in the midst of Indonesia’s economic contraction of 2.07 percent in 2020 and until now continues to grow positively reaching 1.84 percent in 2021 (BPS, 2022). In addition, the strategic role of the agricultural sector is also shown from its largest contribution to employment compared to other sectors, which is around 28.33 percent based on the results of the National Labor Force Survey in August 2021 (BPS, 2021)
