Abstract

In the midst of public enthusiasm ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebration, Jakarta year-on-year (yoy) inflation rate in April 2023 was observed to slow down. The prices of several goods and services have increased in response to increased demand. However, the increase of inflation this year was not as high as it was last year. As a result, year-on-year (yoy) inflation fell this month.
In April 2023, yoy inflation was 3.69 percent, down 0.31 percentage point compared to the previous month. The main triggers of inflation include gasoline (0.781 percent), house contracts (0.311 percent), and rice (0.197 percent).
Meanwhile, month-to-month inflation (mtm) was 0.40 percent, 0.04 percentage points higher compared to last month. Increases in air freight rates (0.062 percent), broiler meat (0.027 percent) and gold jewelry (0.018 percent) were the main triggers of inflation this time.
This month, Jakarta inflation was relatively lower compared to other cities in Indonesia. Jakarta ranked 76th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation. This shows that although there was a seasonal effect ahead of Eid Al Fitr, inflation was still under control.
