Jakarta Annual Inflation Accelerated in November 2023 As Consumer Prices Heat Up Again

Abstract

In November 2023, year on year (y-on-y) inflation in DKI Jakarta was recorded at 2.33 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.10. Meanwhile, nationally, the highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 5.89 percent with a CPI of 120.62 and the lowest occurred  in Jayapura at 1.82 percent with a CPI of 112.99.
  • Y-on-y inflation occurred due to the prices increase as indicated by an increase in the price index for most expenditure category, namely: the food, beverages and tobacco category by 6.00 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels category at 1.16 percent; furniture, furnishings and household equipment, and operation category at 2.42 percent; health category at 1.82 percent; transport category at 1.06  percent; information, communication and financial  services category at 0.18 percent; recreation, sports and culture category at 1.27 percent; education category at 1.69 percent; food  and beverages/restaurant  provision category at 1.84 percent; and the personal care and other services category at 3.06 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure category that experienced a decline in the price index were: the clothing and footwear category by 1.64 percent.
  • The month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate in November  2023 was 0.30 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate in November  2023 was 1.78 percent.
  • The energy component in November  2023 experienced deflation as the following: y-on-y deflation was 0.19  percent, m-to-m deflation was 0.50  percent, and y-to-d deflation was 0.31 percent. On the other hand, the foodstuff components experienced inflation, namely: y-on-y inflation of 6.72 percent, m-to-m inflation of1.39 percent, and y-to-d inflation of 5.02 percent.
