Entering The Last Quarter Of 2023, Jakarta Annual Inflation Back On The Rise

Abstract

In October 2023, year on year (y-on-y) inflation in DKI Jakarta was recorded at 2.08 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.76. Meanwhile, nationally, the highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 5.43 percent with a CPI of 120.87 and the lowest occurred in Jayapura at 1.43 percent with a CPI of 112.88.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to the prices increase as indicated by an increase in the price index for most expenditure category, namely: the food, beverages and tobacco category by 4.70 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels category at 1.27 percent; furniture, furnishings and household equipment, and operation category at 2.61 percent; health category at 1.40 percent; transport category at 0.93 percent; information, communication and financial services category at 0.27 percent; recreation, sports and culture category at 1.39 percent; education category at 1.69 percent; food and beverages/restaurant provision category at 1.87 percent; and the personal care and other services category at 3.11 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure category that experienced a decline in the price index were: the clothing and footwear category by 1.32 percent.

The month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate in October 2023 was 0.13 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate in October 2023 was 1.47 percent.

The inflation rate for the energy component in October 2023 was as the following: y-on-y inflation was 0.32 percent, m-to-m inflation was 0.54 percent, and y-to-d inflation was 0.20 percent. On the other hand, the inflation rate for the food components was: y-on-y inflation of 4.92 percent and y-to-d inflation of 3.58 percent, but based on m-to-m there was deflation of 0.06 percent.
