Abstract

Throughout March 2023, the prices of a number of goods and services in Jakarta were observed to increase, especially ahead of the fasting month. However, the increase was relatively lower than the increase in prices in March last year. This caused the year-on-year (yoy) inflation rate in March this year slightly eased.
Year-on-year (yoy) inflation in March 2023 was 4.00 percent, down 0.07 percentage point compared to the previous month. The main trigger of inflation this time still came from rising commodity prices of gasoline (0.987 percent), house contracts (0.313 percent) and household fuel (0.194 percent).
Based on the month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate, Jakarta inflation was 0.36
percent, 0.17 percentage points higher than last month. This was mainly driven by increases in house contracts costs (0.048 percent), household assistant wages (0.039 percent), and gasoline (0.034 percent).
This month, on a year on year (yoy) basis, Jakarta ranked 83rd out of 90 cities
experiencing inflation. This shows that inflation in Jakarta was still relatively lower than other cities in Indonesia.
