Abstract
The publication of the Regional Income of DCI Jakarta for the Year 1969 marks a progressive step by the Government of DKI Jakarta in contributing economic sector data to government officials, the central government, and other data users. This report, a result of collaboration with the Central Bureau of Statistics, aims to enhance statistical practices in Jakarta despite challenges such as irregular administrative systems and limited data availability. To estimate sector outputs, both the production approach (for industry, agriculture, electricity, gas, and water) and the income approach (for transportation, services, and property rentals) were used, with a combination of both methods applied to sectors like trade. Jakarta’s economy is predominantly driven by trade, industry, and services, which account for over 74% of the region’s economic activities. The structural data provided by this publication is expected to support economic development efforts and serve as indicators for evaluating the impact of government programs. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices was estimated at Rp 28,515.1 million in 1966, Rp 73,153.4 million in 1967, Rp 159,117.9 million in 1968, and Rp 213,402.1 million in 1969, reflecting increases of 156.1%, 117.5%, and 34.1% respectively. In real terms (constant prices), GRDP rose from Rp 28,565.1 million in 1966 to Rp 34,346 million in 1969, with growth rates of 3.2% (1966–1967), 7.3% (1967–1968), and 8.6% (1968–1969). However, population growth during the same periods—5.3%, 3.7%, and 5.7%—often outpaced production growth, highlighting the need for more robust economic development strategies.
