Abstract

  • Jakarta’s export value in January 2024 reached US$833.09 million or decreased by 10.58 percent compared to December 2023. Compared to January 2023, the export value decreased by 8.89 percent.
  • Oil and gas exports in January 2024 were US$ 9.59 million, rising sharply up to 866.86 percent compared to December 2023, and rose 315.20 percent compared to exports in January 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in January 2023 were valued at US$ 823.50 million, decreased 11.51 percent compared to December 2023, and fell 9.71 percent compared to January 2023.
  • The commodities with the largest decline compared to December 2023 was Precious metals and jewelry/precious stones amounting to US$83.46 million (minus 71.16 percent). Meanwhile, the biggest increase was in Miscellaneous chemical products amounting to US$8.89 million (31.58 percent).
  • By sector, non-oil and gas exports from the processing industry in January 2024 fell 12.77 percent compared to the same month in 2023. Mining and other exports also fell 62.74 percent while agricultural, forestry and fisheries exports rose 14.57 percent.
  • The largest exports in January 2024 were to China, amounting US$ 138.28 million, followed by the Philippines US$ 87.66 million and the United States US$ 70.98 million, and the contribution of them reaching 35.64 percent.
  • Imports of Jakarta in January 2024 were worth US$ 6,052.59 million, increased by 1.24 percent compared with December 2023, and fell by 4.08 percent compared to January 2023.
  • Imports of oil and gas in January 2024 were worth US$ 196.30 million, which decreased by 4.86 percent compared to December 2023 and increased by 35.40 percent compared to January 2023.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in January 2024 were worth US$ 5,856.29 million, which rose by 1.46 percent compared to December 2023, and fell by 5.00 percent compared to January 2023.
  • The most significant import increase in January 2024 was miscellaneous chemical products, which rose by US$ 38.48 million (35.13 percent). On the contrary, cereals experienced the highest decrease by US$ 77.70 million (minus 34.90 percent).
  • Based on the broad economic categories classification, compared with December 2023, imports of intermediate goods in January 2024 increased by US$ 174.87 million (4.84 percent), followed by capital goods by US$ 55.57 million (3.86 percent). On the contrary, the import of consumption goods fell by US$ 156.23 million (minus 16.83 percent).
  • The largest trading partner countries imports in January 2024 were China with US$ 2,403.93 million (39.72 percent), Japan US$ 621.66 million (10.27 percent), and Thailand US$ 474.61 million (7.84 percent).
