Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in January 2024 was 1.83 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 103.95.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in all expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 5.59 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.51 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 2.10 percent; Health Group of 1.32 percent; Transport Group of 0.61 percent; Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.17 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 0.89 percent; Education Group of 1.61 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.06 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 2.82 percent. Meanwhile, the price index of Clothing and Footwear Group fell by 2.08 percent.
On a month to month (m-to-m) and year to date (y-to-d) basis there was deflation. The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate and the year-to-date (y-to-d) deflation rate for DKI Jakarta Province in January 2024 each amounting to 0.19 percent.
