Jakarta’s Economic Growth in The Third Quarter of 2023

Abstract

In the third quarter of 2023, Jakarta’s economy based on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached 858.55 trillion rupiah and at constant prices reached 511.37 trillion rupiah.

Jakarta’s economy in the third quarter of 2023 grew by 0.21 percent (q-to-q) compared to the previous quarter. By production, the highest growth performed by the Industry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing at 4.59 percent. By expenditure, the Component of Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) experienced the highest growth of 5.55 percent.

Jakarta’s economy in the third quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2022 grew by 4.93 percent (y-on-y). By production, the Industry of Transportation and Storage experienced the highest growth of 13.96 percent. While by expenditure, the Component of Non-Profit Institutions Final Consumption Expenditure (NFCE) experienced the highest growth of 6.27 percent.

Jakarta’s economy in quarters I to III of 2023 grew by 5.00 percent compared to quarters I to III of 2022 (c-to-c). By production, the Transportation and Storage Industry experienced the highest growth of 16.43 percent. Meanwhile, by expenditure, the Component of Goods and Services Export experienced the highest growth of 8.78 percent.

Jakarta’s economic structure in the third quarter of 2023 was dominated by Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles at 17.71 percent; and Manufacturing at 11.95 percent. By expenditure, Export of Goods and Services contributed 67.96 percent and Households Final Consumption Expenditure (HFCE) at 62.74 percent.
