Abstract

At the beginning of 2023, the number of tourist visits to Jakarta decreased by 8.00 percent compared to December 2022. It happened amid the threat of an economic recession in 2023, which impacted on the tourism sector.

Compared to the same month the previous year, the number of tourist visits to Jakarta in January 2023 reached 115,671 visits, increased by 721.00 percent. However, it was still lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In January 2023, tourists from the ASEAN region dominated arrivals to Jakarta, reaching 43,645 visits. Based on nationality, tourists from Malaysia dominated arrivals to Jakarta with a share of 11.64 percent.
