Jakarta Star Hotels Occupancy Rate Decline at The Beginning of 2022

Abstract

Generally, the beginning of each year is a low season for the hotel industry. After reaching high occupancy in December due to the Christmas holiday and a large number of Meeting Incentive Conference and Exhibition (MICE) activities were held. The Occupancy Rate tends to decrease in the following month. This condition also happened in early 2022. Jakarta star hotels occupancy rate went to 52.3 percent or fell by 6.5 percentage points compared to December 2021
Meanwhile, the length of stay for Jakarta star hotel guests in January 2022 was relatively stable compared to the previous month. However, guest’s average length of stay was getting shorter by 0.74 days compared to the same month last year, which was 2.08 days.
Domestic guests were the primary key to support the recovery of the hospitality industry. Considering that the composition of Jakarta star hotel guests consists of 94.1 percent of Indonesian guests and 5.9 percent of foreign guests.
