Jakarta Foreign Tourists Rise in October 2022

Abstract

After having fallen in September 2022, the number of foreign tourists visiting Jakarta in October 2022 increased by 1.30 percent compared to the previous month (m-to-m). This increase was in line with the government’s various efforts to recover the tourism sector, including increasing quality tourism and amenities and attractions at tourist destinations.

The increase in arrivals of foreign tourists also occurred compared to the same month last year, which was 719.95 percent (y-on-y). However, this increase still cannot match the number of visits by foreign tourists before the COVID-19 pandemic occurred.

In October 2022, foreign tourist arrivals from the ASEAN region still dominated visits to Jakarta, reached 39,591 arrivals. Meanwhile, based on nationality, tourists from Malaysia had the highest number of arrivals at 15,125 or 13.43 percent of total foreign tourist arrivals.
