At The End of The Year, Jakarta Foreign Tourists Rise

Abstract

In 2022, the tourism sector showed positive trend seen from the increasing number of foreign tourist arrivals. In December 2022, the arrival of foreign tourists to Jakarta rose by 9.30 percent compared to the previous month. It was in line with the long holiday at the end of the year and the presence of foreign tourists who celebrate Christmas and New Year in Jakarta.

During January to December 2022, the number of foreign tourists visiting Jakarta reached 935,182 visits. This figure rose by 683.48 percent compared to the previous year’s period. Even so, it was lower compare to foreign tourist visits before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tourists from the ASEAN region continued to dominate arrivals to Jakarta, reaching 52,133 visits in December 2022. Based on nationality, tourists from Malaysia dominated arrivals to Jakarta with a share of 16.37 percent.
