Jakarta's inflation in December was recorded at 0.26 percent, lower than inflation in the same month the previous year of 0.30 percent. Likewise, compared to inflation in the previous month of 0.27 percent, this month's inflation slightly decreased.

Red chili is one of the main causes of inflation. If in the previous month the share of red chili was 0.03 percent, then in December the share of red chili was 0.05 percent and was the highest share. The high price of red chili usually occurs during the rainy season in addition to the Christmas and New Year's Day which causes consumption of red chili to be higher than usual.

In addition to red chili, air transportation with a share of 0.03 percent is the second highest cause of inflation. The Christmas and New Year holidays increase the use of air transportation. Even though the government enforces very strict health protocol requirements, it still does not reduce public interest in using air transportation as a means of traveling during the pandemic.
