Jakarta’s Current Labor Force Condition in August 2024

Abstract

  • Based on the National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS), the number of the labour force in Jakarta in August 2024 was  5,44 million people, which rose by  18 thousand compared to August 2023.
  • The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in August 2024 is 65.10 percent, reflecting a decline of 0.11 percentage points compared to August 2023.
  • Kepulauan Seribu Regency has the highest LFPR, which is 72.58 percent.
  • Jakarta’s working population has reached 5.11 million, marking an increase of 35,000 compared to August 2023. The sector that saw the most significant growth is accommodation and food services activities, which gained an additional 27,000 employees.
  • A total of 1.85 million people (36.31%) are engaged in informal sector, representing an increase of 0.08 percentage points from August 2023.
  • The number of non-full-time workers increased by 114 thousand people, or 14.23 percent, compared to August 2023.
  • The Unemployment Rate in Jakarta in August 2024 is 6.21 percent, reflecting a decline of 0.32 percentage points from August 2023.
  • The highest Unemployment Rate is recorded in the Kepulauan Seribu Regency at 7.93 percent,  whereas Jakarta Selatan has the lowest rate at 5.22 percent.
