Release Date : May 6, 2024
File Size : 2.21 MB

Abstract

  • Gender Inequality Index (GII) for 2023 was 0.256, marking a decrease of 0.064 points from 2022 figure of 0.320.
  • This improvement was driven by advancements across all dimensions supporting the GII.
  • Enhancements in Reproduction Health were driven by better outcomes in the indicator of female giving birth outside medical facilities, which decreased from 3.50 percent in 2022 to 2.00 percent in 2023.
  • Empowerment improvements were due to a higher increase in the percentage of female aged 25 and above with at least a high school education compared to male. Female's percentage increased from 64.51 percent in 2022 to 65.54 percent in 2023, while men's percentage rose from 72.68 percent to 72.71 percent in 2023.
  • Labor market participation improvements were led by a greater rise in the Female Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) compared to males. In 2023, female’s LFPR increased by 3.50 percentage points to 50.12 percent, while male’s LFPR increased by 0.23 percentage points to 80.25 percent compared to the previous year.
