Amid Global Market Uncertainty, Exports Slightly Increase

Abstract

Amidst a decline in economic growth in several main destination countries for Jakarta’s exports, especially the United States and China, Jakarta’s exports in November 2022 rose slightly. Exports increased by 0.23 percent compared to the previous month.

Exports in November 2022 were recorded at US$ 991.21 million. The rise in export value in this period was triggered by increases in exports of most of the main commodities. The commodities were machinery and mechanical appliances and part thereof, precious metals and jewellery/precious stones, electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; fish, crustaceans and mollusca; residues and waste from the food industries; soap and washing preparations; and articles of apparel and clothing accessories (knitted).

On the contrary, year-on-year exports showed a decline. Compared to the same month the previous year, exports in November 2022 fell (4.41 percent). Residues and waste from the food industries were the commodities with the highest year-on-year increase in this period.
