Ten Main Commodities Rise, June Exports Improve

Abstract

Jakarta’s exports are still moving erratically amid the uncertainty of the current global economic situation. After two consecutive months of declining exports, exports in June 2022 recorded positive growth. Exports this month reached US$ 996.2 million, up 39.3 percent compared to last month.

In line with month-to-month export growth, cumulative exports (January-June 2022) also showed a positive performance. When compared to the same period the previous year (January-June 2021), cumulative exports were recorded at US$ 5.6 billion, increased of 2.7 percent.

However, this condition is slightly different from year-on-year exports. Exports in June 2022 slightly contracted 1.1 percent compared to the same month previous year (y-o-y). The decline in export values occurred in five of the ten main export commodities, especially precious metals and jewellery/precious stones had the deepest decline. The decline in year-on-year exports was slightly dampened by the increase in five other main export commodities.
