Abstract

In the midst of global inflationary and economic pressures, inflation in Jakarta was observed to keep going up in July 2022. Prices of goods and services continued to climb. This condition pushed Jakarta inflation to increase, exceeding the inflation rate before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In July 2022, Jakarta inflation was recorded at 0.57 percent, 0.25 percentage points higher compared to the previous month. The increase in inflation this time was mainly triggered by the increase in the price of red chili, household fuels, air transport services, broiler meat, and house rent. In addition, the rising prices of a number of commodities related to the preparation for entering the new school year also contributed to Jakarta  inflation.
In line with Jakarta, other cities in Indonesia also experienced inflation. Among the satellite cities around Jakarta, Jakarta inflation was at a moderate level. Two cities experiencing higher inflation than Jakarta, namely Depok (0,71 percent) and Bekasi (0,62 percent), and two other cities experienced lower inflation, namely Bogor (0,55 percent) and Tangerang (0,21 percent). Meanwhile, nationally, Jakarta was ranked 54th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
