Jakartas Paddy, Maintaining Productivity in Limited Land (Fixed Number)

The conversion of agricultural land is inevitable for Jakarta. Population growth and economic progress require Jakarta to consistently meet the needs of facilities and infrastructure that require adequate land availability. This condition will undoubtedly affect the performance of Jakarta’s agricultural production, especially paddy production.
In 2021, there has been a decline in rice harvested area in Jakarta as much as 354,54 ha (38,77 percent) compared to conditions in 2020. This condition is mainly due to some paddy fields converted into factory land, residential land, and burial land for Covid -19. In the same period, Jakarta’s rice production was recorded at 3,249,47 tons of GKG, a decrease of 28,49 percent compared to 2020. The value slightly increased from the previously estimated value due to an adjustment to the harvest period in subround III (September-December) 2021. However, the decline in production was much slower than the decline in harvested area. It means productivity is still maintained reasonably well.
Meanwhile, the potential for paddy production in January-April 2022 is estimated at 1106,39 tons of GKG, This value is 45,07 percent higher (equivalent to 344,75 tons of GKG) compared to the same subround in 2021 (763 tons of GKG).
