Import Value Soars in June 2021, Hinghest since Late 2019

Jakarta – During the COVID-19 pandemic, import value in June 2021 showed a relatively high increase, even when compared to the end of 2019. The increase in the value of imports occurred in capital goods as well as raw and auxiliary materials.
During the period from January to June 2021, both imports of raw and auxiliary materials and imports of capital goods in June reached the highest value of US$ 3,767.4 million and US$ 1,232.9 million compared to the previous months. The high growth in imports shows that the industrial sector remains expansive. This increase is allegedly due to businesses/industries that have resumed their activities with working hours that return to normal after the fasting month/Eid holiday.
Jakarta’s imports reached US$ 5,784 million, an increase of 46.2 percent year-on-year due to increases in all classifications of the Broad Economic Category (BEC).
