Reconciliation of Population Projection Figures

Thursday, 27 April 2023, BPS DKI Jakarta Province carried out the Reconciliation of Regency/City Population Projection Figures. Located at the Mercure Sabang Hotel, this activity was attended by representatives of Regency/City BPS throughout DKI Jakarta. The activity which lasted for 2 days was a follow-up to calculating population projections at the district/city level for 2020-2035 which had already been carried out in 2022. In preparing population projections for 2020-2050, BPS made new breakthroughs, one of which is calculating the population projections for districts/cities using the RUP (Rural Urban Projection) method. This method is used to meet the needs of birth, death and migration parameters which previously could not be obtained because district/city population projections used the geometric method. This district/city population projection is a very strategic BPS product and is needed in various fields. Comprehensive and continuous population data is needed to make policies and design programs that are relevant to needs, problems and time dynamics. In this case, the availability of current and future population data is the basis for making proper planning. In addition, in the future the availability of population data within the population projection framework is needed as a basis for medium and long term planning. Population projections also play a role as a monitoring and evaluation tool for the implementation of ongoing development.
