Tuesday, 28 March 2023, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Statistics Center held a Focus Group Discussion on the Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI FGD). The event, which took place with the full day concept, took place at the Aryaduta Hotel. The FGD participants included government representatives, security forces, universities, the press, community leaders and NGOs. The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a measure of political development used by the government in the RPJMN 2010 – 2014, 2015 – 2019, and 2020 – 2024. The IDI is a collaboration between government agencies, namely the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, BPS, BAPPENAS, Ministry of Home Affairs, and local governments. Since IDI 2021, the IDI concept has used a new method that covers three domains, namely political, economic and social. The Indonesian Democracy Index consists of three aspects, namely the aspect of freedom (represented by 7 indicators), the aspect of equality (represented by 7 indicators), and the aspect of the capacity of democratic institutions (represented by 8 indicators). Quantitative data for measuring IDI is collected through incident tracking in print newspapers and online news portals, secondary data, and indexes produced by government agencies. The data is validated in FGDs involving relevant experts. In the FGD there were three main objectives, namely confirmation, clarification (correction), and exploration of new data that had not been included in the quantitative data. Cross-validation will also be carried out on the data in the FGD using the available quantitative data.
